Round-up

A lot of thoughts, discussions, and purchases this weekend. Here’s a breakdown of everything I have going on.

1. Meg – still sewing pleats. Good grief. I took my dress, my pins, needle & thread, scissors and my ironing board and dressform to my grandma’s this weekend. I got out of my car and warned her, “You’re going to think I’m crazy when you see all that I’ve brought,” and she did. I ended up using her ironing board so I didn’t have to wrestle mine out of my car (at least, not til I got home yesterday), and I didn’t need the dressform. Cleaned up some of the front pleats I wasn’t happy with and kept moving around the side.

2. Johanna – haven’t done a thing, although I did find a hairpiece I forgot I had that might work for her, while hunting for something else.

3. Elsa – also nothing. I won’t be able to get back to this til I finish Meg, but when I bought the silk chiffon for Meg, I also got skirt fabric for Elsa. oh! Wait, I do have something – I bought more sequins last week. After Momocon, I gotta jump back on this.

4. Peggy – bought fabric and lining. Got to inspect my grandfather’s uniform again yesterday, and took lots of reference pictures. He actually told me I could take it home and keep it for a while – and my grandmother suggested I just wear his instead of making one! – but I don’t want anything to happen to it and I would NEVER wear it to DragonCon because that would be the one time somebody spills bear all over me or something.
But after looking at it, I’m really unsure of my fabric pick. I may go ahead and use it for now, see how it looks – but I may switch to something else later on.
I also got shoes!

5. Donna Unicorn & Wasp – I got fabric for the dress! The bolt was in pieces, so instead of getting 4 yards I ended up with 2 pieces each equaling 6 yards – so I’ve got plenty. As soon as I get back from Momocon, I want to knock the basic pieces of this out so I can start the embroidery. (PS, I love that I’ve sat on my Bespin Leia pieces for 8 years now because I haven’t felt like doing the embroidery, yet here I am trying to make a heavily embroidered dress in 3 months in addition to everything else I’m doing… something is wrong with me).

6. Anne Boleyn – I ordered a fabric sample for my gold pieces. That’s about it since last update.

7. Seeeecret Costume – Chase said he’s buying lifecasting supplies this week. Whoohoo. And if I don’t use all that fabric for Peggy, I can maaaybe use it for this.
